Don't be tempted to create anything longer that that because it probably won't be read then. Try not to be in this crowd, don't eliminate yourself before at least getting the chance to be read and evaluated. You deserve this job, now go and get it.

Resume Writing - Building the Perfect Resume From Scratch

You need a job and you will need to send some form of application, so what do you do? It can feel very overwhelming to sit down in front of a sheet of paper and try to find the best way to write a resume that will get you the job that you really want. Many people feel that they do not have enough information to write to fill up even half of the page. They worry about how to organize it and how to showcase their experience and their skills without being too wordy. The process can be made much easier if you take the time to consider what you want out of a career and what you liked and did not like about your previous jobs.

You should first decide why you even need a resume!
Yes, it is probably because you need to get a job, but what do you hope to gain from putting together a great resume? You should think about the direction you want to take in your career, to start with. Be specific and decide if a specific industry is best for you, if want to achieve a certain title, and what you would like to do down the road in your professional life. When you have definite answers to these questions you will have the information that is necessary to compile a great resume that will show off your abilities in the area that you are interested in.

Now go get some ideas!
Once this is complete, take a look online at the resume formats that are most popular these days for jobs in your goal industry. You can even get great ideas from books at the library. You want to have a resume that is written professionally and that reads well. When you decide on a format that will work best for you then you should begin the process of creating your resume.

Personal information first!
Your personal information comes first in most resume formats and it should include all of the necessary contact information, like home and cellular phone numbers, address, and email address. It really looks better if your email address includes your name so sign up for a free one at Yahoo so you can make the best impression. It will help you keep your responses from prospective employers organized as well.

Job experience next!
For your job experience, list the most recent five employers beginning with the most current. Your resume should be limited to no more than two pages so keep it brief if you need to. Be sure not to skip certain jobs as it will look like you were unemployed for that period of time, which can be a negative thing to a prospective employer.

...And now the academics!
The next part of the resume should include your academic achievements and any courses that you took in your previous jobs. Put your skills in bullet point form so they can see how valuable you are as an employee. It is not necessary to include references if you add a line stating that they will be provided upon request.

Check, re-check, check again and send!
Your final step before you submit the resume should be to have someone read it over and give you honest feedback. They may identify typing errors or simply point out areas that could be made more understandable. Turning in a resume that is written well and has not errors in grammar or typing can definitely give you the edge you need to get the position that you want so badly.

Your resume is the foot in the door to the job you really want so make sure it is the best document you can build...and get some help to do that if you think you need it!

Start networking. Go on those social network sites that cater to professionals and even do your networking on Facebook. This is important. Most jobs are never advertised because they are taken by a closed circle of networked individuals. If you will be in the network, you will get it.
